Landscaping SEO in 2026 | Why You Need to Start NOW or get left behind (Fall 2025)

In this video, Matt Wacek from Landscape Marketing Pros breaks down what’s working for landscaping SEO in 2026, how AI search is changing the game, and why you need to start now (before November) if you want to dominate the spring rush (and bypass most landscape contractors that wait until spring to think about marketing). You’ll learn how SEO & AI search results are reshaping how homeowners find landscape contractors, and how to position your business to win more landscape design/build, hardscape, & outdoor living projects in 2026.

Why You Need to Start SEO Before November

In this video, I’m going to break down what’s going to be working best for landscaping SEO in 2026, why Google and AI search are changing the game, and why starting before November is what’s going to allow you to tap into the peak season and really crush your goals instead of being left behind playing catch up all season long.

1. Hyper-Optimized Service Pages: The Foundation of Landscaping SEO in 2026

So, for landscaping SEO in 2026, let’s get into what’s going to be working.

First things first: separate service pages. We’ve been saying this for years. Since 2016, when we first started doing videos on this, we’ve been discussing that you need to have separate pages for each individual service that you offer, not just by industry sector.

You have “landscaping” as one page and then a list. Yes, those are good and get the job done, but you need more than just that. You need one for each individual service that falls under that category.

So if you’ve got the “landscape” category, you have design, ground covering, mulch, rock edging, pine straw if you’re in the South, sod, hydroseeding, retaining walls, lighting, drainage solutions, grading, yard, and landscape renovations.

Under hardscape or outdoor living, you have paver patios, concrete (if you do that), outdoor kitchens, outdoor fireplaces, and more. Each one of those pages needs to be separate from one another for a couple different reasons.

First and foremost, you are creating a web page for humans to visit, and that’s what you need: to optimize it for people to navigate your site easily, to go from each page and check it all out, learn what each service is that you guys do, your process, before-and-after photos, or just gallery photos on the service page.

That way, they can understand what the service is and what it entails. If you want to include starting-at pricing or price ranges, you could do that too. That’s helpful to all these pages when they’re optimized correctly.

A lot of times we see websites that may have separate service pages, but they’re not optimized for anything. They’re just sitting out there floating on a hosting server and not getting any traction because they’re not telling Google what it wants to know in order to get it to show up in search results.

A lot of people search for something besides “landscaping company” or “outdoor living” or “lawn care company.” They’re going to type in “yard drainage solutions in [city],” or “outdoor kitchens near me,” or “paver patio contractors near me.”

If you don’t have pages optimized for those types of searches, you’re not going to be found, and you’re missing out on tens of thousands of dollars in work, especially on the design/build side where one project can be $50,000 or more.

2. Building a Real Brand That Stands Out

The next point that’s going to be really important in 2026 is establishing yourself as an actual brand, not just a generic contracting company that does the work.

Yes, the quality of work and customer service matter, but there needs to be some nuance to your company. We’ve seen it time and time again. The clients that come to us and have something behind their company, a story, a unique name, a unique process, those are the ones that stand out.

Showing off your expertise, whether that’s through being authorized contractors for paver manufacturers, drainage supply manufacturers, or other products you use as part of your services, all of that matters.

Include the story behind your team, having an actual photo of your team on the website or photos of each person on your team and you as the owner. Those things stand out immensely. The same goes for having some type of mission statement.

And think about it right now: if you have to use ChatGPT to figure it out, then fine. Just make sure to refine it so it actually sounds like something you’d say and believe.

AI search especially pays attention to this. For example, our client Infantry Landscaping shows up first for “best landscaping in Atlanta” as of today, October 21, 2025. You can see in the bullet points below why it chose to show them first. That’s exactly what I’m talking about here: becoming something unique.

So many companies are generic and don’t stand out, and that’s fine. You can still rank and get a ton of leads. But if you want to tap into AI search, which is growing fast, we’ve already tracked leads coming in through ChatGPT, then you want to be positioned like that.

And this also helps you stand out as a brand overall. So why not take a couple hours to put these things together for your company so you stand out? It’s a win-win.

3. Modern Social Proof: Testimonial Videos Over Reviews

The next factor that’s really going to impact SEO for landscaping companies in 2026 is social proof.

And I know what you’re thinking: social proof means Google reviews.
No. Much more than that.

Yes, reviews are still very important, especially consistent reviews week after week to expand your visibility and boost click-through rate, meaning how many people see your profile versus actually click to visit it, call, or go to your website.

But creating testimonial videos with your clients is going to be critical. These help convert more people from your website, and in AI search, they’re data points the AI can pull into search results.

Some of our clients have already started implementing this because it works tremendously well, not just on social media but also on the search side. It’s really a win-win because it all works together.

And it’s simple to get testimonial videos. You can film them with your phone. Maybe invest in a small mic, but just do it right at their property, tripod on top of the new patio, outdoor kitchen in the background, and talk to your clients about the project.

If you need help, go to ChatGPT and type: “Create a testimonial video template with questions to ask my clients who we just did a landscape project for.” It’s that easy. ChatGPT has revolutionized how companies do everything.

There’s a reason we do testimonial videos on our own website: because it just works that much better than only relying on Google reviews.

4. The Local Authority

Another factor that’s going to be key in maximizing SEO for your landscaping company in 2026 is educational content that establishes your company as the go-to contractor in your local area.

We’ve been doing this for years for our clients. These are blog posts that answer the questions people have when they’re searching.

These include things like “How much does a paver patio cost in Birmingham, Alabama?” or “How often should I aerate my lawn in Minnesota?”

We’ve seen tons of leads come through clients’ websites after landing on these blog posts. They read the article, liked the info, and then went to the Contact page or called for a quote.

We can track all of that, so you know exactly where your leads are coming from. And it’s cool to see because if those blog posts didn’t exist, those leads might never have found you.

Maybe it’s a small job at first, a $100 aeration, but that same customer could come back three years later for a $20,000 project. It’s all about the long game.

This strategy helps you show up in search results and capture traffic that would have never found your site otherwise.
